Sirach 35:12
God is very generous to us. What is ours that God hasn’t given to us freely. Can we really begin to comprehend all that has been given to us?
Even more, can we appreciate every single one of God’s gift? Life for instance. God gives us life everyday when we rise from our sleep. Do we appreciate this privilege and gift from God? Or do we simply take it for granted?
Once we begin to understand how generous God has been to us can we begin to appreciate God for how good he is to us. It is easy at this point to want to give back to God. When we realize that God gifted us with our unique skills and talents do we not waste them but use them for God’s purpose. We give back our gifts to God for God’s will. God’s will be done.
We can and will never match God’s generosity. For as the Most High we can never be at his level. But we are not meant to be in competition with God. We are to be in imitation with God. In communion with God. Not to compete in giving but in giving to be in union with God.
Let us start this journey of giving to God by identifying and appreciating one gift God has given us. And afterwards let us see how we can give back God’s gift for God’s will.
Do we realize that by rejecting God’s gifts we are rejecting God?
If all we have is a thanks to God, why do we claim ownership over things?
