Can we listen to Jesus' guidance in times of pain?
John 19:27
Jesus told the disciple to behold Mother Mary. And from that moment the disciple did as Jesus instructed for the benefit of all. Despite the fact that Jesus is suffering on the cross, we as disciples can move beyond any pain if we listen to Jesus.
And what does Jesus offer? Not necesarily removing the suffering but rather us moving forward as community. We can transcend the trials of the world as a church community. As God’s family. No parent is without child nor any children with parent. We can imitate the unity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit here on earth as it is in heaven.
All it takes is for us to do as Christ instructs. And to do it earnestly. Without delay. We cannot stay stuck on the pain, on the fear. We must be attentive to what Jesus is trying to grow especially in the moment of extreme hurt. If we are able to stay focused on Jesus and act on his guidance we will grow into fuller existence.
If we are in pain at any point today, let us focus on Jesus and await his instruction. Even if we do not understand the purpose and want to linger in the suffering, let us persist upward. The disciple did not hesistate in taking Mary home. And now we have Mother Mary as the mother of the Church to pray and care for us. And the Church has never been the same since. Thanks be to God.
