Colossians 2:8
Persuasion can have us believing in the opposite of what Jesus teaches. We may be swayed to follow the mindset of another human instead of God’s. We need to be alert of what others may be persuading us to and firm in our relationship with Christ.
The more we know Jesus the less likely we will be deceived by teachings in opposition to Christ. We must continually stay close to Jesus and examine whether where others are guiding us is away from God.
A useful measure to determine the validity of others’ advice is to identify if they are leading us to God or to themselves. Is the end goal knowing Jesus or simply knowing them?
Let us not forget that as a church we are meant to all lead one another to Christ. We are to evangelize the world speaking of the greatness of God. Let us make sure that the focus always stays on Jesus and never on us. To God be all the Glory!
