Matthew 6:25
What is life but in and with God. God breathed life into us and it is only with God that we have true life. Everything else perishes over time but only God is everlasting. God is life.
So, yes, life is more than food and clothing. Things of the earth that perish. Why then do we sometimes orient our day on what we will eat and wear?
We should not dismiss eating and dressing altogether but instead put them in their proper order. God should always be our focus. Everything else is secondary. To value food or clothes over God is to choose that which perishes; death.
We can continue to eat but if food has become central to our lives maybe fasting can reorder our focus back to God. To give up seeking food for a period to instead seek God. We are reorienting our bodies to the divine and not earthly. Life over death.
Can we review if our daily lives are centered on what we eat and wear? Do we think about our food and clothes for the day more than we think about God? Let’s be truthful with our answers and make the necessary changes to come back to life.
If our priority is on ourselves instead of God why do we think we can endure suffering?
Do we truly understand how God is unmatched?
