Haggai 2:8
God created everything in the world and universe. All belong to God and as creations of God nothing can surpass God. We are God’s and we can never be greater than God. So why do we elevate silver, gold, and money so much?
As with other things in the world, we can appreciate and steward them but we should not obsess over them. We must realize that only God, the creator of these things, is to be worshipped. If we place our trust in money we will never be pleased. Only God provides the true pleasure and peace.
Another error in trying to possess wealth is that they do not belong to us. As much as we may think we can work to own and control things, we cannot. For we have not really created any of it. Only God is the creator and all belong to God. Why do we try to take from God what is not ours?
Let us put everything into perspective today. Let us consider what we prioritize and realize how God should be first. We need to stop trying to possess things and let the Holy Spirit rest in us. Instead of taking worldly things, let us receive the divine.
